Year 13 Painting
The art department at Trident high school offers a wide
range of programmes and options. These include Art, design,
painting and photography.
Where does art and design lead?
Art has a diverse range of applications leading into many
career opportunities and further study. These include fine
art, exhibition curating, gallery/museum work. Illustration,
graphic design, animation, fashion design, interior design,
industrial design, architecture, photographic design,
commercial photography, education and a wide raft of
business (and other) qualifications which require
conceptual thinking. The 21st century world of
work increasingly demands that learners develop thinking
flexibility and creativity. Art courses at senior levels
provides this.
Year 13 Painting ...............Place Image here below
This course is a continuation of level 2 painting but with a
stronger emphasis on contemporary art theory and art making
practice. Students work on personalised programmes with the
support of mentor artists in the community. There are three
achievement standards offered (24 credits) including a
research assignment, a workbook and a three board folio.
Year 13 Design
Level 3 design involves the study of design history and
contemporary theory. Students develop and extend their
skills in drawing and idea development and learn new skills
in design applications such as indesign, photoshop and
freehand. There are three achievement standards offered (24
credits) including a research assignment, a workbook and a
three board folio.
Year 13 Photography (NCEA Level 3)
This course is a continuation of level 2 photography but
with a stronger emphasis on contemporary art theory and art
making practice. There are three achievement standards
offered (24 credits) including a research assignment, a
workbook and a three board folio.
Students are expected to have their own camera and the costs
include photographic paper, film, digital paper and a
workbook and chemical fee.
