Welcome to Classical Studies Year 13 Classics
The Year 13 Level Three NCEA Classics Course aims to:
Develop in students the ability to enter imaginatively
into the events of the distant past
Further students’ historical understanding of some major trends and developments in the Ancient World’s of Greece and Rome.

Develop
in students a critical understanding of the
Ancient World-their heritage, cultures and
shared values.
Foster among students an understanding of their own history,
though it may be remote in time and place
Develop the skills of historical inquiry and interpretation:
to define a problem and to gather, process and present information.

Students are required to verify the sighting and
acceptance of the grade awarded by signing the
result slip attached to each piece of internally
assessed work. Students will also be required
to verify the final grades awarded that are
submitted to NZQA.
The THREE EXTERNAL ACHIEVEMENT STANDARDS
will be formally assessed by national
examinations at the end of the year.
