Science Students
Trident
High School Science Department has a staff of 8 teachers and
1 technician. We teach a balanced Science course in Years 9
and 10 and offer a broad range of course options in years
11, 12 and 13 all leading to NCEA credits. Science education
is valued highly at Trident High School and excellence is
encouraged both inside and outside the classroom.

All Year 9 and 10 students study a balanced science course
Year_11
The courses offered in Year 11 are:
SCI Level 1 NCEA Science
This is the equivalent of School Certificate Science. It is assessed with internal Unit standards and 4 external standards.
DS Double Science
This means that they will do two lines of science and is by HOD invite only.
NZS New Zealand Science
This is a level 1 unit standard course. It is completely internally assessed.
HBio Human Biology
This is a level 1 unit standard course. It is completely internally assessed and is designed for students who would struggle with examinations.
Year 12
GSci General Science
This is a level 2 unit standard course. It is completely internally assessed and is designed for students who did NZ Sci in year 11 or struggled with NCEA Level 1 Science.
GBio General Biology
This is a level 2 unit standard course. It is completely internally assessed and is designed for students who would did Human Biology in year 11 or struggled with NCEA Level 1 Science
SCI Level 2 NCEA Science
This is the follow on course from NCEA Level 1 Science. It is assessed with internal Unit standards and external standards. It is a difficult academic course designed for students who want to carry on with science rather than do the individual sciences.
