social studies

How do different groups of people get on with each other?

How do we organise society to cater for our competing desires for happiness?

Is the way that we live environmentally and socially sustainable? The Social Sciences department provides a dynamic programme for Year 9 and 10 Social Studies giving students the opportunity to learn about these issues, their own perspective on them, and how their view compares to others'.

Through this process students learn their place in the world, and gain insight into how they may want to use their lives after school.

In addition to learning about life in New Zealand and overseas, students will gain a range of mapping, graphing, interpretation and cooperative skills that will help them out with NCEA Social Science subjects and in the workplace.
