Courtney Wilson- Class of 2019

Courtney Wilson attended the New Zealand Women in Security Awards in Auckland in 2023.

After deciding to pursue a career in cyber security, she went to the University of Waikato to complete a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences (with Honours) and a Master of Cyber Security under the Sir William Gallagher Cyber Security Scholarship.

In September, Courtney received the news that she was named a finalist in the category - 2023 Best Security Student. The award recognises a student currently studying who is already making significant contributions to the industry, leaving a mark, and displaying immense potential for future leadership. Award nominees are noted as outstanding individuals who have shattered boundaries, challenged norms, and exceeded expectations in their respective field, helping to propel the New Zealand Security industry forward.

We are delighted that Courtney was named the winner of the 2023 Best Security Student Award at the New Zealand Women in Security awards.  The judges commented that her unwavering commitment to her community, passion for the dynamic security industry, contributions extending far beyond cyber security and relentless dedication to safeguarding personal information and online security made her a deserving recipient.
