PROGRAMMES

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME FOR EXCELLENCE - APEX

The school has a full scholarship programme as part of Trident APEX (Academic Programme for Excellence) with tuition classes to support Scholarship students. APEX also has allowed students to access NCEA Level Three whilst they are still in year twelve, effectively preparing them for the opportunity to extend to Scholarship studies when they are in year thirteen. In the Junior School APEX offers opportunities for Science enrichment, streamed Mathematics and English classes and a range of Arts, Technology and Languages and subjects to prepare students for academic success at the highest level. The exceptional results in NCEA and Scholarship are ample evidence of the success of APEX.

APEX - AN EXTENSION TO THE PROGRAMME

The school has a dedicated Year 9 APEX class that allows for accelerated and extension learning opportunities. This class will be tracked through their secondary years, and will ensure the on-going success of the scholarship programme and high levels of achievement in NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3 and NZ Scholarship.

TE AKA MOTUHAKE

Te Aka Motuhake classes are selected on the basis of strong leadership potential, positive attitude and a dedication to academic excellence. The programme utilises key Māori concepts such as Whanaungatanga (Building Relationships) and Manaakitanga (Caring) to raise student achievement. Māori student achievement is highly supported in Te Aka Motuhake.

Students are encouraged to share positive strengths and experiences within the group and feel supported in their endeavours to promote and follow the core values of Trident High School Manaakitanga (Respect), Whaia te Iti Kahurangi (Quality Work) and Kia Manawanui (Courage).
