Sports News

Orienteering started last Wednesday night in Rotorua. The weather was hot and the landscape hilly, so everyone had to put in a lot of effort to complete the course. Everyone finished within the hour, which made for an excellent first session.
The second session took place on the following Wednesday in the Rotorua CBD. The competition is now really picking up among the students as the results begin to come in with the race on to see who will achieve the highest overall score.

BOP Secondary School Volleyball Champs

It was a weekend of highs and lows. While Saturday's games were tough, our teams bounced back on Sunday with set wins and game wins.

Trident triathletes

It was an awesome day out for the Trident triathletes competing in the BOP Secondary School Championships. With great weather and the ideal venue at Ohiwa harbour, all that turned out had an enjoyable day.

Te Koha Schick was the first of the Trident athletes to race and did well winning a silver medal.

Dominic Rowland was next up in a grade with some tough competition. Dom had a good race coming in at 4th place.

In a larger field, Lilly Collombet raced in the girls section coming in at 4th place.

Holly Rowland (swim), Jacques Collombet (bike) and Gabriel Aruquipa-Southerwood (run) raced as a team taking first place.

Oliver and Xavier Christie were in the final race of the day. They were 2nd and 3rd out of the water but both managed to move ahead in the cycle stage where they remained close throughout the race. It came down to a sprint finish between the two with Xavier taking gold.

Well done to all of our athletes and congratulations!

Thanks to EBOP Tri club, Tauranga Tri Club and Sport BOP for putting on a great event.
